Answers to the questions people ask most. If yours is not here, write to support@concept-squad.app.

Getting started

Open SystemPulse once and it lives in the menu bar. Click any of its items to see the panel for that reading; the links at the bottom open the dashboard window, its settings and its history.

To start it every time you log in, turn on Start at login in Settings ▸ General.

Each reading can be an item of its own, or all of them can share one item with a tab for each. Choose in Menu Bar Designer (in the dashboard's sidebar, under Tools): what each item shows, as numbers, bars or a graph, and profiles that switch by themselves.

On a Mac with a notch, macOS hides menu bar items that do not fit beside it. If an item disappears, use the single combined item or show fewer readings — SystemPulse tells you in Menu Bar Designer when the bar is too full.

History

Every reading is recorded on your Mac: an hour second by second, a day in ten-second steps and a month minute by minute. Older detail is removed automatically.

Settings ▸ History shows how much space it takes, exports it as CSV or JSON, and deletes it.

Alerts and widgets

Rules in Settings ▸ Rules notify you when a reading crosses a line you set. If no notification appears, allow notifications for the app in System Settings ▸ Notifications.

Widgets: Control-click the desktop, choose Edit Widgets…, find the app in the list and drag a widget onto the desktop. Widgets need macOS 14 Sonoma or later and refresh about once a minute.

Buying and restoring Pro

Pro is a one-time in-app purchase of $9.99. Open Discover Pro at the bottom of the dashboard's sidebar and choose Get Pro. The app restarts by itself and the Pro tools appear in the sidebar; nothing you have recorded is lost.

Why SafeClean asks for your home folder

Inside the App Store sandbox an app sees only its own folder. SafeClean, App Inspector and Permission Inspector need to look at yours, so the first time you open one of them macOS asks you to choose your home folder. SystemPulse remembers that choice and reads nothing outside it.

SafeClean never deletes anything by itself: it shows an estimate first and moves to the Trash only what you confirm, so you can still put it back.

What the App Store edition can't show

The sandbox keeps every App Store app away from some of the Mac's internals, so this edition does not show:

Where one of these would appear, the app says it is not available rather than showing a wrong number.

Removing the app

Quit SystemPulse from any panel's Quit link and move it to the Trash. Its history and settings stay in ~/Library/Containers/com.kmi.SystemPulse; delete that folder too to remove them. Remove its widgets from the desktop with Edit Widgets.

Settings ▸ About ▸ Export Diagnostics… saves a small file describing the app and the Mac — version, macOS, processor and memory, and which readings are available. It contains no names, serial numbers, file paths or history. Attach it if you like; it is sent only if you send it.
